Ma'ale Adumim

Ma'ale Adumim () is an Israeli settlement and a city in the West Bank, seven kilometers () from Jerusalem.〔Unsettled Market, Jerusalem Post, In Jerusalem, May 13, 2011〕 Ma'ale Adumim achieved city status in 1991. In 2012, the population was 39,200.〔http://www.moin.gov.il/Subjects/Bchirot/Documents/election-yosh.pdf〕 The city is located along Highway 1, which connects it to Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area.
The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.
Ma'ale Adumim is mentioned in the Book of Joshua as the border between the tribes of Judah and Benjamin.
